Effect of Applying a Primary Postpartum Hemorrhage Escape Room Game on Nursing Students' knowledge and Clinical Reasoning Skills.

Background: The escape room game has a substantial recognition in recent years. Innursing education, it helps students to blend with learning content in safe, entertainingand engaging environment. Also, it provides a novel way to simulate real clinicalsituations and apply theoretical knowledge in practical situation. Therefore, it assistsnursing students in honing their knowledge, clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, and teamwork abilities in a safe learning environment. Objective:To determine the effect of applying a primary postpartum hemorrhage escape roomgame on nursing students' knowledge and clinical reasoning skills. Design and setting:A quasi-experimental study was conducted at the Obstetric and Gynecological nursingskills laboratory, faculty of nursing, Alexandria university. Subjects: a convenientsample of 166 nursing students who were registered for Obstetric and Gynecologicalnursing course in the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024. They wererandomly allocated into two equal groups: the study group and the control group, with83 students for each. Tools: two tools were used for data collection: Tool one: "Nursingstudents' knowledge questionnaire about primary postpartum hemorrhage". Tool two:"Nurses' clinical reasoning scale". Results: revealed that there was a statisticalsignificance difference between the study and control group after intervention regardinglevel of knowledge and clinical reasoning skills in favor to the study group. Conclusion:The escape room game is an effective educational method for enhancing nursingstudents' knowledge and clinical reasoning skills among nursing students.Recommendation: Integrate the escape room game as an innovative teaching method inthe nursing curriculum and different nursing specialties.
