THE IMPACT OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHINESE INDUSTRIAL EXPORTS
The amount of waste in China has increased more than threefold since 1990 over three decades, which has heightened the challenges of waste management. Importing waste did not help resolve the issue, as the government imposed a ban on 24 types of imported waste, receiving two million metric tons monthly in 2018, valued at $1.5 billion. The government announced its goal to eliminate imported waste, which alleviated pressure on management. Additionally, China began using incineration to generate electricity in 2010, with the capacity for renewable municipal waste energy more than doubling to over six gigawatts in 2019, producing about 23 gigawatt-hours in 2018. In this context, simple regression results. There is a direct relationship between the accumulation of solid waste and industrial exports, as well as a direct relationship between the recovery of solid waste and industrial exports, highlighting the importance of improving waste management technologies and energy generation from it.
