Measurement of muon neutrino induced charged current interactions without charged pions in the final state using a new T2K off-axis near detector WAGASCI-BabyMIND

We report a flux-integrated cross section measurement of muon neutrino interactions on water and hydrocarbon via charged current reactions without charged pions in the final state with the WAGASCI-BabyMIND detector, which was installed in the T2K near detector hall in 2018. The detector is located 1.5° off-axis and is exposed to a more energetic neutrino flux than ND280, another T2K near detector, which is located at a different off-axis position. The total flux-integrated cross section is measured to be <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mrow> <a:mn>1.26</a:mn> <a:mo>±</a:mo> <a:mn>0.18</a:mn> <a:mo stretchy="false">(</a:mo> <a:mtext>stat</a:mtext> <a:mo>+</a:mo> <a:mtext>syst</a:mtext> <a:mo stretchy="false">)</a:mo> <a:mo>×</a:mo> <a:msup> <a:mrow> <a:mn>10</a:mn> </a:mrow> <a:mrow> <a:mo>−</a:mo> <a:mn>39</a:mn> </a:mrow> </a:msup> <a:mtext> </a:mtext> <a:mtext> </a:mtext> <a:mrow> <a:msup> <a:mrow> <a:mi>cm</a:mi> </a:mrow> <a:mrow> <a:mn>2</a:mn> </a:mrow> </a:msup> <a:mo>/</a:mo> <a:mi>nucleon</a:mi> </a:mrow> </a:mrow> </a:math> on CH and <e:math xmlns:e="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <e:mrow> <e:mn>1.44</e:mn> <e:mo>±</e:mo> <e:mn>0.21</e:mn> <e:mo stretchy="false">(</e:mo> <e:mtext>stat</e:mtext> <e:mo>+</e:mo> <e:mtext>syst</e:mtext> <e:mo stretchy="false">)</e:mo> <e:mo>×</e:mo> <e:msup> <e:mrow> <e:mn>10</e:mn> </e:mrow> <e:mrow> <e:mo>−</e:mo> <e:mn>39</e:mn> </e:mrow> </e:msup> <e:mtext> </e:mtext> <e:mtext> </e:mtext> <e:mrow> <e:msup> <e:mrow> <e:mi>cm</e:mi> </e:mrow> <e:mrow> <e:mn>2</e:mn> </e:mrow> </e:msup> <e:mo>/</e:mo> <e:mi>nucleon</e:mi> </e:mrow> </e:mrow> </e:math> on <i:math xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <i:mrow> <i:msub> <i:mrow> <i:mi mathvariant="normal">H</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mn>2</i:mn> </i:mrow> </i:msub> <i:mi mathvariant="normal">O</i:mi> </i:mrow> </i:math> .
