The True Meaning of Al-Injīl in The Qur’an
The Messiah’s life, death, resurrection, and precepts are usually called “Good News”. This term is transliterated in Arabic as Al-Injīl as it appears in the Qur’an. This article addressing the existence of the Al-Injīl during the time of Muhammad (pbuh), as a book written in Arabic, and its reliability according to the Qur’an. We will discuss the content of the Al-Injīl, as to whether it is the biography of the Messiah (pbuh), or the message of the Messiah, or the four books, or twenty seven books, or the good news of the Messiah (pbuh) in the entire Bible. Then we shall examine the origin of the word Al-Injīl. Finally, we will deal with the ways of presenting the Al-Injīl to the Arabs – as a biography of the Messiah (pbuh), or as a narrative about the Messiah (pbuh), or as Qirā’at of his disciples about the Messiah (pbuh).
