Grounding Sensation: Art-based research of wet soil for sensory regulation
This article discusses an art-based pilot study exploring the impact of working with wet soil on children with sensory regulation disorders (SRDs). Four children aged 8–13 and two student-art therapists participated, guided by their professor. The methodology included art-making, observation, group discussion, creative responses and video editing. Findings highlight two key insights: grounding and recognizing soil’s qualities as reflective sensations. The pilot study shows how integrating nature’s palette with art therapy may benefit children with SRD.
