Analytical Model for Determining Residual Stresses Arising during Processing of Materials Using Laser Shock Peening Technology

An analytical model based on Hertz contact theory and Neuber plasticity theory, which is used to predict the values of residual stresses that arise in materials when using the laser shock peening technology, is developed. The developed analytical model was verified by comparing the values of compressive residual stresses with numerical and experimental data, which confirmed its performance. The analytical model developed makes it possible to create databases that will link the parameters of laser shock peening and the residual stresses obtained. When planning experiments, it will be possible to select laser shock peening parameters that will lead to the desired residual stress fields.
