Iatrogenic meatal obstruction after circumcision leading to acute renal failure: A case report
Circumcision is the most commonly performed surgical procedures in children, yet it is not without potential complications. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy who developed dysuria then complete anuria with acute renal failure following circumcision. Initial attempts at urethral catheterization failed. Diagnostic endoscopy revealed a suture obstructing the external urethral meatus. Removal of the stitch restored normal urinary flow. Management consisted of prompt relief of the obstruction and supportive treatment of acute renal failure. This case highlights a rare but serious complication of circumcision, underlining the importance of meticulous surgical technique and postoperative monitoring to prevent urological sequelae.
