Design and Implementation of a Novel 31-Level MLI Topology for PV System Applications with Improved Performance
• This paper proposes a novel 31-level MLI topology integrated with the Fuzzy Logic Controller for improved power quality and enhancd outcomes for Solar PV systems. • The performance is evaluated along with reliability assessment and compared with the existing topologies. • The low %THD, improved voltage profile, and power quality abilities set this topology at the top place over the existing topologies. • The 31-level MLI is simulated with MATLAB/Simulink software, and also implemented a prototype model with a dSpace controller under different loading conditions for dynamic responses. A novel 31-Level Multilevel Inverter (MLI) topology is designed with enhanced operational aspects for the solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, like usage of a smaller number of devices, high efficiency with fewer losses, less voltage stress on the switching devices, etc. The main considerations, as well as the focusing aspect for designing this proposed topology, are using a minimum number of devices, which increases the effectiveness of the topology and reduces the complexity in the circuit, cost factor, as well as harmonics in the topology. Having the quality output from the input will reduce the usage of Filter circuits as well as some auxiliary equipment for enhancing the quality of the power, and this also makes the utilization possible in PV applications. The proposed topology is analyzed and evaluated by conducting a Simulation as well as experimental implementations. The proposed topology also has high reliability as well as modulating aspects due to having fewer devices and utilizing the advanced modulation technique for enhanced outcomes. These features will enhance the possibility of applying the topology to the medium power range. This research will provide an effective MLI topology which having high potential for working conditions, improved efficiency with a simple structure, and also a cost-effective topology for the area that is involved in making innovations and developments in the power electronics applications in RES and some other sustainable systems for power sharing, as well as enhancing the availability of the power.
