Tetralogy of Fallot in a 73-year-old woman
Fallot's tetralogy is a congenital heart defect characterized by underdevelopment of the right ventricular infundibulum, anterior and leftward displacement of the interventricular septum, and pulmonary stenosis with a large ventricular septal defect.Patient survival relies on surgical repair. We present the case of a 73-year-old patient with surgically corrected Fallot's tetralogy in her childhood. After decades of lost follow-up, she presented to our unit with syncope, weakness, dyspnea, and heart failure symptoms. The patient was successfully treated and discharged with clinical improvement.
