Mobile Target Tracking with a Reconfigurable Metasurface in the X-Band
With regard to Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and future 6G communications, systems should be able to self-adapt their operation to different tasks in a dynamic way. In this context, an intelligent connected system based on a reconfigurable metasurface reflector, is proposed to operate in dynamic downlink communication environments for automated tracking of mobile targets. The tracking is achieved using global positioning system (GPS) data from a real-time database in the cloud. Experiments are done in the X-band to validate the effectiveness of the metasurface-based system in moving target tracking and communication link enhancement.
