Characteristics of 6.4 GHz Radio Channels Used for IEEE 802.11bn Under Obstructed LOS Conditions
This paper presents a statistical characterization of indoor and outdoor radio channels used in IEEE 802.11bn based wireless local area networks (WLANs). In particular we study, six fixed client to access point (AP) communication scenarios for obstructed line-of-sight (oLOS) channel conditions. Robust statistics are used to provide a summary of the parameter estimates for the long-term and short-term fading across 4096 frequency points between 6.425 and 6.745 GHz. In this study, we use the gamma distribution to model the long-term fading, while for the short-term fading we use the Rician and Nakagami- <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$m$</tex> distributions. Using the resistor-average distance (RAD), it was found that the Nakagami- <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$m$</tex> distribution observed the lowest RAD values for the short-term fading. Our results reveal that the Rician <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$K$</tex>-factor decreases as the number of individuals obstructing the line-of-sight (LOS) path increases.
