A T-Shaped Fractal Multi-Band THz Absorber for Skin Cancer Diagnostics
Early detection of skin cancer is critical for improving survival rates and treatment outcomes. This study presents a highly sensitive multi-resonance terahertz (THz) sensor designed to distinguish cancerous tissues from healthy tissues based on their refractive index profiles. The T-shaped fractal gold resonator exhibits three distinct resonances, each achieving absorption efficiencies greater than <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{9 9. 5 \%}$</tex>. The sensor demonstrates a peak quality factor of 269.7, reflecting sharp and welldefined resonances, and achieves a maximum sensitivity of 432 GHz/RIU, enabling accurate detection of subtle refractive index variations associated with cancerous cells. The sensor's advanced performance is facilitated by its metamaterial-based structure, which enhances absorption and sensitivity while maintaining compact dimensions. These features make it a promising tool for non-invasive cancer diagnostics.
