Recurrent cystitis glandularis of the bladder: case report and review
Cystitis glandularis is a rare benign lesion of the bladder that can mimic malignancy. The intestinal subtype is notable for its recurrence and debated premalignant potential. we present the case of a 36-year-old male presented with irritative urinary symptoms and microscopic hematuria. Cystoscopy showed multiple nodular, non-urothelial lesions. Transurethral resection confirmed cystitis glandularis and cystitis cystica with intestinal metaplasia, without atypia or invasion. The patient improved postoperatively but developed recurrence one year later. Intestinal-type cystitis glandularis is a benign yet recurrent lesion that may simulate bladder carcinoma. Accurate histopathological diagnosis and regular cystoscopic follow-up are essential to exclude malignant transformation.
