Applications of nanoparticles as nanofertilizers for plant growth, disease suppression and abiotic stress management

The global population is expanding, making it essential to use agriculture to meet the growing demand for food. Sustainable farming could benefit from nanotechnology, as nanoparticles may useful in many different kinds of tasks involve in agriculture. These tiny particles can deliver nutrients and other materials to plants while their characteristic features may boost plant growth and resilience. It is important that the type, mixture, and amount of nanoparticles is chosen based on need. The effects of certain nanoparticles such as silver, gold, titanium dioxide or carbon-based particles are being evaluated with regards to both abiotic and biotic stresses. Utilizing these particles can increase seed germination rate, root development, shoot height and resistances to salinity, drought, heat, light, toxic heavy metals, pest and diseases. In agriculture, nanoparticles have a number of advantages, such as better nutrient delivery, better disease and pest management, and higher crop yields. They promote the slow release of fertilizers, ensuring higher nutrient uptake and decreasing environmental losses. By reducing chemical use and better targeting of pest, nanopesticides can reduce the possibility of development of resistance. By increasing productivity and reducing chemical inputs, the integration of nanoparticles ultimately leads to healthier crops and a less impact on the environment, supporting sustainable agriculture. Taking into account the ideal particle for each situation could increase agricultural yieldsas well as contribute towards alleviating world hunger.
