Improved receiver architecture for efficient space-based massive ADS-B signal detection
Efficient detection of Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) signals from low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites in highly congested airspaces remains a significant challenge, with room for potential improvement in the on-board multibeam antenna and digital baseband reception. A key limitation arises from message collisions at the 1090 MHz frequency, where overlapping ADS-B transmissions reduce detection performance. This work explores strategies to mitigate these effects, including a judicious beam selection to limit interference among signals, along with the application of advanced signal processing algorithms for enhanced detection and decoding.
