Improved 3D printed silica ceramics via solid content, sintering temperature, and sintering aids
In this study, silica ceramics were fabricated using digital light processing technology. The effects of solid content (60–70 wt%), sintering temperature (1300–1600°C), and sintering additives (Al 2 O 3 , Y 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 ) on the ceramic properties were investigated, providing optimization strategies for 3D printing of ceramic cores for aircraft turbine blades. After being fired at 1500°C, the 60 wt% solid phase content sample exhibited a uniform structure and the best porosity. The silica-based ceramics with 5 wt.% Al 2 O 3 addition showed the highest flexural strength of 2.60 ± 0.13 MPa.
