Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Ayurveda: Bridging traditional wisdom and modern data science

ABSTRACT: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Ayurveda offers new opportunities for evidence-based validation, personalized care, and digital transformation of Traditional Medicine. This perspective highlights the applications of AI and Machine Learning (ML) in digitizing Ayurvedic knowledge, Prakriti (~somatic constitution) assessment, and Formulation discovery through Natural Language Processing (NLP), Network Pharmacology, and Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS). It also discusses the challenges of data standardization, model interpretability, and ethical governance. Emerging tools such as Knowledge graphs and Digital twins suggest a future where AI serves as a Sahachari shakti (~a collaborative force), enriching rather than replacing, Ayurvedic wisdom.
