Modal analysis of the structure of an innovative high energy X-CT instrument: Experimental and numerical modeling study

This study addresses the need for in-situ observation of internal damage evolution in reinforced concrete materials under loading. To this end, a high energy X-CT instrument was developed with a novel scanning mechanism, differing from conventional CT instruments. To ensure dynamic stability under complex operating conditions, the vibration characteristics of the mechanical system were investigated using finite element analysis and validated through experimental modal analysis. The results demonstrate clear relationships between the rotating platform’s position and its structural dynamic behavior. These findings provide a theoretical basis and design reference for structural optimization and vibration control of complex equipment. Moreover, the developed high energy X-CT instrument offers a new experimental platform for revealing the microcracking behavior of reinforced concrete and the constitutive relationship of interface slippage under loading.
