Leveraging a Commercial Source for Metropolitan-Scale Entanglement-Based Quantum Key Distribution

We present the successful multi-day demonstration of BBM92 quantum key distribution over 2x13.8 km of deployed fiber, achieving 98% visibility and 1% QBER using a fully commercial source of energy-time entanglement and off-the-shelf components. Practical issues and device imperfections are discussed and mitigated in software.

Abstract

We present the successful multi-day demonstration of BBM92 quantum key distribution over 2x13.8 km of deployed fiber, achieving 98% visibility and 1% QBER using a fully commercial source of energy-time entanglement and off-the-shelf components. Practical issues and device imperfections are discussed and mitigated in software.
