Dynamic Configuration Adjustment for Improving Reading of high RFID Tags Density

The optimization of Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) RFID reading systems is necessary for applications involving large populations of RFID tags, where energy efficiency and fast data acquisition are vital. This paper presents a novel methodology aimed at optimizing both power consumption and read time while ensuring a 100 % read rate for RFID tag populations. By manipulating environmental parameters and leveraging advanced functionalities within the EPC Generation 2 protocol, we propose an innovative approach to reduce tag collisions, optimize power levels which minimize interference in high reader-density environments. Our methodology finetunes tag interrogation cycles and adjusts reader settings to maximize tag visibility, reduce redundant reads, and lower the total energy required for operations. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in reading efficiency and power usage, particularly in high-density tag environments, underscoring the potential for practical implementation in RFIDbased applications that demand high throughput and energy efficiency.
