Newton-ring holography
The Newton ring is a well-known physical phenomenon. A self-interference fringe image of spatially and temporally incoherent light is generated with a partially reflective plate and a convex-shaped material. Exploiting the phenomenon of the Newton ring, I propose a method of incoherent holography. A simple, cost-effective, and highly-robust incoherent digital holography system is designed and constructed, and its incoherent three-dimensional imaging ability is experimentally demonstrated. Moreover, the possibility of Newton-ring holography for video-rate incoherent holographic imaging is experimentally confirmed.
