0-1 programming based method for underground logistics system design

The Underground Logistics System (ULS) technology is a forward-looking technology. This technology is of great significance for the logistics industry, transportation and environmental protection. However, ULS is high in cost, high in risk and lack in theoretical support. The task of ULS network design includes two aspects: the choice of network nodes and the design of network structure. In this paper, we focus on the nodes of ULS network. We propose a bottom-up strategy for selecting network nodes. This method first determines the secondary nodes, and then selects a small number of primary nodes from the secondary nodes. In the selection of secondary nodes, we propose a method based on set coverage to find the optimal secondary nodes by optimizing the region coverage with the least number of secondary nodes. In the selection of primary nodes, we propose a CFLP-based method. The primary node constructs a connection structure between the logistics park and several secondary nodes in the primary network. In our method, the selected secondary nodes are regarded as candidates for the primary nodes. Then, an optimization model is designed to select a fixed number of primary nodes considering the total freight cost, total freight volume and the transportation distance. The primary nodes and secondary nodes form the frame structure of the ULS network. Finally, the test results on a given case fully verify that the proposed method can effectively design the ULS network structure.
