Temperature‐Driven Compensation for Adaptive Infrared Camouflage and Electromagnetic Interference Shielding under Solar Radiation
Abstract Infrared (IR) camouflage materials with electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI) capability offer both IR countermeasure and electromagnetic protection. However, in practical outdoor scenarios, solar radiation and variable operation conditions complicate background matching due to the issues of specular reflection, background temperature elevation, and source temperature fluctuation. Herein, temperature‐responsive liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) films with striated MXene pattern (SML) are developed to achieve adaptive IR camouflage ability with EMI shielding performance. Striated MXene pattern serves as IR radiation modulating and EMI shielding surface while LCE acts as temperature‐driven actuator. Hierarchical wrinkles of MXene pattern suppress specular reflection, showing angle‐independent IR characteristics. The equivalent emissivity of the SML film can be rationally designed within a range of 0.48–0.72 to match typical sunlit background. The phase transition of LCE can alter the LCE gap width according to source temperature, compensating a 20 °C source temperature fluctuation between 65 °C and 85 °C to IR temperature drift of 3.3 °C. Furthermore, SML film simultaneously possesses EMI shielding switch capability, showing EMI shielding efficiency values of 31 and 19 dB in “on” and “off” state, respectively. This study provides new insight into adaptive camouflage and electromagnetic protection materials for electric equipment deployment in outdoor environments.
