Structural, Morphology and Intermediate Temperature Electrical Properties of Novel (1-x)Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α-xSrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α<
In this paper, a novel series of (1-x)Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α-xSrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α composite electrolytes were prepared by a sol-gel method. The structural analysis and morphology characterizations of samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). AC impedances, conductivities depended on temperatures curves and H2/O2 fuel cells performances of Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α, Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α ∶ SrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α = 8 ∶ 2 ( Ce8Sr2)、Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α ∶ SrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α =2 ∶ 8(Ce2Sr8) and SrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α were determined by electrochemical testing technologies at 500 ℃ ~ 750 ℃. The conductions of oxide-ions and protons were studied using the discharge curves of hydrogen and oxygen concentration cells. XRD results showed that the intensities and positions of diffraction peaks were dominated by the main component in Ce8Sr2 and Ce2Sr8 composite electrolytes. There are no other impurity diffraction peaks in Ce8Sr2 and Ce2Sr8, indicating that there is no chemical reaction in the preparation process. The order of total resistance at 550 ℃ was R (SrCe0.9Er0.1O3-α)>R (Ce2Sr8)>R (Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α)>R (Ce8Sr2). The conductivities of Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α and Ce8Sr2 were 2.7×10-2 S·cm-1 and 5.4× 10-2 S · cm-1 at 750 ℃. Accordingly, the maximum power densities of Ce0.9Er0.1O2-α and Ce8Sr2 reached 31.8 mW·cm-2 and 52.1 mW·cm-2 at 750 ℃, respectively.
