Preparation and Characterization of Y-type Molecular Sieve Based Catalyst Modified with Rare Earth Elements

Considering the specific challenges encountered in the synthesis of RE-Y molecular sieve based (RE-Y, RE: Ce or La) catalysts, a solid-state ion exchange method was developed for the preparation process of RE-Y molecular sieve based catalysts. The NaY molecular sieve was synthesized by the method of seed guiding agent. While the NH4Y molecular sieve was prepared by liquid phase ion exchange between NH4NO3 or NH4Cl and NaY molecular sieve. A certain amount of LaCl3 or CeCl3 is then mixed and ground with NH4. During the high-temperature roasting process, solid-state ion exchange occurs, resulting in the synthesis of RE-Y molecular sieve with the disired rare earth loading. In conjunction with the analysis and evaluation of heavy oil catalytic cracking, the catalytic performance of RE-Y molecular sieve catalytic cracking of heavy oil to produce gasoline was investigated. The results show that the solid state ion exchange method can efficiently prepare the rare earth modified molecular sieve catalyst with less waste liquid discharge, and its catalytic performance is superior to that of commercially available rare earth modified Y-type molecular sieve catalyst.
