Image encryption based on 3D Cubic-Sine Logistic Coupled Map and Improved Chirikov Map

This paper presents a novel color image encryption algorithm that utilizes chaotic map to enhance security in digital image transmission. In this study, we introduce a novel 3D Cubic-Sine Logistic Coupled Map, distinguished by its enhanced chaotic properties. This map is then integrated with the Improved Chirikov Map to establish a robust and highly secure method for image encryption. The proposed image encryption algorithm uses a 3D Cubic-Sine Logistic Coupled Map (CSLCM) for pixel value diffusion and an Improved Chirikov Map for position scrambling. The CSLCM introduces complex interactions between three coupled variables, which are applied to modulate the RGB color channels of the image, while the Improved Chirikov Map strengthens the cryptographic robustness through efficient scrambling. The encryption technique involves bitwise XOR operations between the pixel values of the image and the chaotic sequences, followed by position scrambling based on chaotic map-generated sequences. The key used in the scrambling process ensures that only the correct key can decrypt the image back to its original form. Evaluation of the encryption performance is conducted through entropy analysis and histogram comparisons between the original, encrypted, and decrypted color images. The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm effectively increases randomness, providing a high level of security for color images, making it well-suited for secure image communication applications.
