Discovering Solace in the Unfamiliar: Traditional Qatari Hospitality during the 2022 Soccer World Cup
Summary The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar presented a rare chance for the world to sample the cultural heritage and hospitality of the Qatari people. Qatari hospitality is based on the nation’s values, as expressed in the principles of Bedouins, who were famous for their hospitality, generosity, and loyalty to the faith. This case study aims to determine how cultural hospitality is created and sustained in Qatari society, particularly during the World Cup. The Qatari Bedouin culture is not only a set of customs and etiquette, but also a way of thinking and seeing the world: people are hospitable and friendly, and they consider themselves participants in the community. These principles were especially evident during the World Cup, as fans could share mutual emotions and be collectively moved by similar stories. The event provided a glimpse into the historical perspective of Qatari generosity by showcasing culture in continuity with technology. In doing so, the Qatari presentation cemented its identity to the global audience and created unforgettable memories for those who travelled to witness the spectacle. Information © The Authors 2025
