High Mixing Entropy Depresses Glass Transition in Metallic Glasses

High‐entropy metallic glasses (HEMGs) exhibit unique properties that have attracted considerable interest. However, the influence of mixing entropy on the glass transition—critical for understanding amorphous structures—remains unclear. In this study, the mixing entropy from R to 1.8 R through element substitution, while examining its effect on the specific heat step at the glass transition, has been systematically increased. Results show that higher entropy leads to a smaller specific heat step, indicating a more homogeneous structure and reduced atomic cooperativity. These findings provide important experimental insights into how mixing entropy affects the glass transition process.
