High Efficiency Triple-Active-Bridge Converters with Optimized Inductance Design

Optimizing series inductance in triple-active-bridge (TAB) converters is essential for enhancing zero-voltage switching (ZVS) capability and reducing peak current stress under variable voltage conversion ratios in DC microgrid applications. This paper proposes a multi-objective inductance optimization framework based on multi-objective particle swarm optimization that tunes inductance values to maximize the ZVS operating range and minimize peak current stress at low voltage conversion ratios. The algorithm systematically evaluates trade-offs between these metrics and generates a Pareto-optimal set of leakage inductance configurations. Validation through theoretical modeling and simulation demonstrates ZVS region extension, peak current reduction, and consistent efficiency improvements. These results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed inductance design for the deployment of high efficiency, reliable TAB converters in modern DC microgrids.
