Assessment of Swimming Technique and Performance of Paralympic Water Polo Athletes by a Gyroscope Device
The classification represents a fundamental task to ensure a fair competition among Paralympic athletes. Indeed, it allows performance to depend on the ability and strength of the para-athletes, rather than their level of impairment, by using well-structured objective systems. The paper aims to describe some non-invasive IMU-based in-water tests for assessing the swimming performances of para-athletes. These findings show differences in the swimming kinematics among the athletes. Therefore, applied on a large scale, they could be used within classification procedures to support classifiers in their work.
