Ripple Compensator Circuit for LCL Voltage-Controlled PHIL PMSM Emulation
Traditional machine test benches are often characterized by their lack of flexibility, safety concerns, substantial weight, and high costs. To address these limitations, Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) has emerged as an advanced technique for testing and validating control algorithms and hardware in Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for electrical machines. This paper explores the application of PHIL for the emulation of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM). This paper proposes the integration of a Ripple Compensator circuit as a key enhancement to the LCL voltage-controlled PHIL system for PMSM emulation. The Ripple Compensator works in conjunction with the LCL coupling network to improve emulation accuracy, ensuring better system performance. This approach reinforces the effectiveness of PHIL as a flexible and safe alternative to traditional machine test benches.
