Influence of nACRo4 Nano-Coating on the Wear Resistance of Gearing in Transmission Mechanisms

Abstract The proposed paper presents the results of experimental scuffing tests performed on the Niemann FZG test rig in accordance with the STN 65 6280 standard for FZG scuffing tests. Experimental investigations were conducted on gears made of 42CrMo4 steel, with two gear pair variants: an uncoated pair and a pair coated with nACRo4 PVD coating. For the lubrication environments, the conventional lubricant MADIT PP 90 and the synthetic lubricant TOTAL Carter Bio 150 were selected. The aim of the experimental tests was to evaluate and compare the scuffing resistance of uncoated and coated gears. The surface roughness parameter Rz was measured at the tip and reference diameters after each load level. Values presented represent averages from ten repeated measurements.
