Briefing: Examining infrastructure investment under the UK Labour government
This paper provides a qualitative analysis of the Labour government’s policies to support infrastructure investment with a specific focus on planning, financing and delivery. Several initiatives are discussed, including the 10-year Infrastructure Strategy, the Infrastructure Pipeline and the formation of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA). The ambition of these reforms is commendable, laying the foundations for enhanced coordination of long-term investments. However, significant work remains to ensure that the UK is well positioned to deliver infrastructure that supports inclusive growth, environmental resilience and adaptability.
