New study explores link between ASD and gastrointestinal issues

Gastrointestinal complaints are among the most frequently reported medical issues in children with autism spectrum disorder. A recent longitudinal study from the UC Davis MIND Institute explores this correlation by following 475 children (322 with autism spectrum disorder and 153 with typical development) from early childhood into preadolescence to track the frequency, persistence, and correlates of GI symptoms without a known medical cause.
