Advancements in Electro-spinning Techniques for Nano-fiber Fabrication for Wound Healing
Electrospinning has been identified as a promising and effective method for the fabrication of nanofibers with controlled morphology, high surface area, and tunable porosity. Such characteristics make electrospun nanofibers of high interest in biomedical engineering, drug delivery, filtration, energy storage, and tissue engineering. This review presents a systematic summary of electrospinning- based nanofiber formulation, including the effect of polymer choice, solvent systems, and process conditions like voltage, flow rate, and collector type on fiber properties. Moreover, recent advances in modified electrospinning methods, such as coaxial, emulsion, and melt electrospinning, are discussed to emphasize their potential in the fabrication of functionalized nanofibers. Large-scale production issues, reproducibility, and fibre uniformity issues are also discussed, along with emerging trends for overcoming such issues. Through the summary of key trends and innovations, this review seeks to present valuable insights into the status and future direction of electrospun nanofiber formulation.
