Comparison of the Effects of Tocilizumab and High-dose Steroid Treatment on Treatment Response and Mortality in Hospitalized COVID-19 Pneumonia Patients with Cytokine Storm

Objective: Cytokine storm associated with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is a major contributor to COVID-19-related mortality. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the clinical and laboratory effects, as well as mortality outcomes, of high-dose steroid therapy versus tocilizumab treatment in patients experiencing this hyperinflammatory state.Method: This retrospective, single-center cohort study analyzed the records of 200 patients who were hospitalized at University of Health Sciences Turkey, Gazi Yaargil Training and Research Hospital with COVID-19 pneumonia and diagnosed with a cytokine storm between February 1 and September 30, 2021.Eligibility criteria required that Ama: Koronavirs hastal-2019 (COVID-19) ile ilikili sitokin frtnas sendromu, hastalkla ilikili mortalitenin nemli bir nedenidir.Bu almada; sitokin frtnas gelien hastalarda; yksek doz steroidler ile tosilizumabn klinik ve laboratuvar sonular ile mortalite zerindeki etkilerini karlatrmay amaladk.
