Munich’s Olympiadorf: Synthesis of an Urban Audit’s Results

Abstract The subject of this article is the Olympiadorf, or Olydorf for short, in Munich, which was developed as the Olympic Village for the 1972 Games. Conceived as a ‘city within a city’, it was designed to be car-free and equipped with all the amenities necessary for daily life. The aim of this article is to present a synthesis of the results of an urban audit carried out by the author on the site during a study visit in the summer of 2024. This huge urban project, created more than 50 years ago, was analysed in the context of the principles of sustainable development of the estate area: ecology, economy, society and culture.
