PARPs in liver diseases
Abstract Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs) comprise a family of 17 enzymes were initially identified for their essential roles in DNA damage repair and maintenance of genomic stability. Emerging evidence has unveiled their critical involvement in various liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, metabolic disorders, fibrosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. This review summarizes PARPs’ roles in liver diseases and the evidence supporting PARP inhibitor therapy.
