Physicochemistry of Nanosized Y 1‐z Pr z P 1‐x V x O 4 Solid‐State Solution

Abstract This study investigates the properties of nanosized Y 1‐z Pr z P 1‐x V x O 4 materials (where x = 0–1 with a step of 0.1, and z = 0.001, 0.005, 0.01) synthesized via co‐precipitation. The nanocrystals are characterized using XRPD, FTIR, XPS, ICP‐OES, HR‐TEM, SEM, and N 2 adsorption‐desorption techniques. The photoluminescence spectral and dynamical properties are also investigated. The focus is on how substituting the phosphate (PO 4 ) 3− group with the vanadate (VO 4 ) 3− group and incorporating Pr 3+ ions influences the structural and photoluminescence properties of the resulting phosphors. Results show that the structural transition from yttrium phosphate to yttrium vanadate leads to significant changes in lattice parameters, crystal morphology, and luminescence behavior, particularly in the red spectral region. The photoluminescence analysis reveals that the emission properties of Pr 3+ ions are highly dependent on the host matrix composition, with a notable decrease in emission intensity as the vanadate content increases. Additionally, the study highlights the effect of matrix composition on the decay times of Pr 3+ ion emissions, indicating the presence of quenching effects in specific compositions. These findings provide insights into the photophysical properties of Pr 3+ ion‐doped materials, which could be relevant for applications where tailored luminescence properties are required.
