Pyometra as a rare complication of median colporaphia
Median colporaphy, proposed by French surgeon L.C. Le Fort at the end of the 19th century and modified by Polish gynecologist F.L. Neuegebauer, is one of the classic surgical treatment options aimed at correcting pelvic organ prolapse in sexually inactive elderly and senile patients. Despite all its advantages, including the short duration of the operation with the possibility of performing it using regional anesthesia methods, low injury rate and satisfactory patient tolerance, high efficiency with almost complete absence of relapses, this technique, like any surgical intervention, has disadvantages and complications. The article describes two clinical observations of the development of pyometra, one of the rarest complications of Lefort colpocleusis.
