A convenient synthesis of enantioenriched α-haloaldehydes

We report a convenient synthesis of α-haloaldehydes involving oxidative cleavage of readily prepared, stable and storable halohydrins. This one-pot process affords α-haloaldehydes in high chemical purity and ee with minimal manipulation.
