Plasmon-mediated deposition and electrochemical decomposition of silver nanostructures on a gold-nanoparticle/ITO electrode

Abstract In this study, a gold-nanoparticle (AuNP)/indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode with a high density of gold nanoparticles on the surface of an ITO transparent electrode was fabricated and plasmon-induced silver-ion reduction by using visible-light irradiation on the surface of the electrode was performed. A spectroelectrochemical system was constructed by using the AuNP/ITO electrode as the working electrode and the redox properties of the silver ions were evaluated by measuring the reflection spectrum as a function of the electrode potential. Based on the obtained characteristics, laser writing of silver nanostructures that can be rewritten repeatedly was demonstrated.
