Covalent Nitrogen Doped Hypercross-Linked Polymer from Waste Plastic for Greenhouse Gas Adsorption

Waste plastics create environmental burdens due to their persistence, while greenhouse gas emissions exacerbate global warming. This study presents a method to convert waste plastics into nitrogen-doped hyper-cross-linked polystyrene porous polymers. The resulting material exhibited a high specific surface area of 1063.30 m2/g and adsorption capacities of 1.81 mmol/g for CO2 and 2.95 mmol/g for CH4. This work demonstrates aniline’s potential for covalent nitrogen doping to enhance adsorption capacity, providing insights for optimizing greenhouse gas capture and advancing “waste-to-treat-waste” strategies.
