Review of underwater robotics technology in marine fisheries: current status and prospects
In response to the demand for fishing high-value marine organisms, underwater fishing robots have become an efficient tool for fishing and are entering a period of rapid development. Significant advancements have been made in various technologies, particularly in fishing methods, structural forms, mobility, and integrated control technologies. This paper systematically reviews the three key technologies of underwater fishing robots mentioned above, revisits the development history of underwater fishing robots both domestically and internationally, and looks ahead to their future applications in the marine industry. Based on this, the paper proposes a bionic design concept for integrated suction capture, combining flexible structures and intelligent control to achieve precise and damage-free capture of target organisms. It also highlights that the future technological focus of underwater fishing robots will be on improving the intelligence level of robotic control, environmental adaptability, fishing accuracy, and operational efficiency.
