Parallel computation of magnetic model for magnetic levitation system based spatial domain finite difference method

An accurate magnetic force model is crucial for the high-precision control of magnetic Levitation Systems (MLS). Soft magnetic materials are widely used in these systems due to their excellent magnetic properties. However, the magnetic force modeling of the magnetic levitation system for soft magnetic materials is confronted with the contradiction between accuracy and efficiency. This paper proposes a spatial domain finite difference method (PFDM). In PFDM, the finite difference method (FDM) is used to solve the Maxwell equations and obtain the magnetic field distribution in space, this computation is executed on a GPU to enhance performance and efficiency, and then the Maxwell Stress Tensor (MST) is used to solve the Lorentz force distribution in space. In order to highlight the performance of the PFDM, the calculation accuracy and efficiency of the proposed PFDM were evaluated using the finite element software COMSOL. The same FDM model was also implemented on multi-core CPUs using MPI + OpenMP, and comparative results were presented to demonstrate the significant acceleration of the proposed PFDM.
