HCI optimization design of the coal sludge clearance and pushing machine based on Jack simulation

To enhance the safety, comfort, and work efficiency of the coal sludge clearance operation for the driver of underground clearance and pushing machine, this study developed a simulation environment for the driver's operational tasks. Using the Jack human-machine engineering simulation software, the study analyzed the accessibility and comfort of the human-machine interface for three body type categories (P5, P50, and P95) during the operation process. Based on the analysis, an optimal design direction was identified, and an improved simulation model of the driver's work environment was constructed and re-simulated. A comparison of the pre- and post-optimization analyses revealed that all frequently used control components on the operation panel were within the driver's comfortable reach after optimization, and the Porter values of the driver's joints during the operation remained within the comfortable range. The Krist comfort score improved from 73.5 to 25.4. This study's methodology provides significant reference for the human-machine engineering design of the operation panel layout for related underground sludge transportation equipment.
