Optimization design flow of double-stator coupler in WPT system for rotating equipment

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) system for rotating equipment can completely isolate the physical contact between rotating electrical appliances and power supply, and is expected to replace the conventional power transfer approach such as cable or conductive slip rings. However, the lack of complete design procedures for rotating WPT couplers has restricted the application. This work proposed an automatic optimization design flow for the coils of double-stator rotating couplers which is realized by introducing Multi-Objective Adaptive Guided Differential Evolution (MOAGDE) algorithm into the design flow. A comparative study is made, and the moment of inertia is reduced by 20.2% compared to a current design scheme. This paper makes up for the lack of research on the optimization design of rotating WPT coupler, and takes the moment of inertia of the rotating coil of the coupler as an optimization objective for the first time, which will contribute to the design of high-speed rotating WPT coupler.
