Bacterial Accumulation Of Two Different Materials Of Aligner Sheets Polyethylene Triphthalate Glycogen (Pet-G) And Polyurethene (Pu) (Experimental Study)

This study aimed to assess the bacterial adherence on PET-G and PU clear aligner materials. In this study the cells of Staphylococcus aureus and candida albicans were detect through 2 test . 1st test is the absorbance test (turbidity test) and determined the bacterial growth spectrophotometer) the 2nd test (visual plate test) the bacterial and C. albicans diluted in Tryptone Soya Broth (TSB) to an optical density (OD) of 0.5 McFarland standard. The growth medium was divided into three groups. the turbidity of the overnight growth for all tubes was measured at 600 nm and 280 nm. Our results cleared that, the absorbance and visual plate test of S. aureus and C. albicans showed a higher level in standard McFarland followed by PET-G at beginning of the experiment and PET-G after 18 hrs. and the absorbance level showed a higher level at 600 nm than the 280 nm. Also, the absorbance level showed a higher level in standard McFarland followed by TPU and TPU and the absorbance level showed a higher level at 600 nm than the 280 nm. While, the visual plate test indicated that, This study concluded that, the PET G and the TPU more efficient in decreasing the level of bacterial accumulation but PET-G was more efficient than TPU and the higher wabe length 600 nm than 280 nm.
