Design of a Filter using Spirulina sp. powder for the treatment of three different types of wastewaters
The study included the design of a three-layer filter to treat industrial wastewater consisting of sand, carbon powder, Spirulina sp. powder, for each type separately. Samples of polluted water were taken from three wastewater treatment in Samarra city. Polluted water samples were taken from three industrial wastewater plants in the city of Samarra, and tests were conducted before treatment to determine the degree of pollution. The results of the analysis of untreated raw water showed that values exceeded the permissible limits (polluted levels). It is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and standard values for Iraqi water standards and for all the qualities studied. After treatment, tests were also conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of treatment. The filters proved their efficiency in removing pollutants and the concentrations decreased after their use. The statistical analysis showed a high removal rate, especially when treated the wastewater from a car wash station. The removal rate showed both TDS (99.79) and suspended solids (TDS). Solid sediment TSS (94.49), electrical conductivity Ec (99.87), total basicity (80), total hardness (74.35), salinity (98.63), chloride CL (94.54), nitrate N (80.87), phosphate P (69.52), calcium (Ca (85.71), sodium Na (85.21), sulfur S (81.24), iron Fe (99.28), lead Pb (99.12), cadmium Cd (98) %. The removal of heavy metals in the wastewater treatment of the car wash station was higher than the removal of the rest of the types of treated water in the study. As When treating wastewater for medical supplies both suspended solids (TDS) (70) and sedimentary solids TSS (62.40), electrical conductivity EC (84.29), total basicity (74), total hardness (91.32), salinity (76.92), chloride CL (99.26), nitrate N (55.06), phosphate P (76.92), Calcium (Ca (64.14), sodium Na (82.23), sulfur S (92.15), iron Fe (94.64), lead Pb (97.75), cadmium Cd (91.66)%. When using the, same moss filters with household wastewater. the removal of suspended solids (TDS) reached (99.79), sedimentary solids (TSS) (60), electrical conductivity (EC) (98.57), total alkalinity (70), and total hardness. hardship (87.5), salinity (81), chloride CL (84), nitrate N (38.57), phosphate P (65.93), calcium Ca (93.18), sodium Na (71.42), sulfur S (69.48), iron Fe (88.12). Lead Pb (61.53), Cadmium Cd (75) %. The study shows the efficiency of Spirulina algae in the bioremediation of polluted wastewater. and economically low-cost method.
