Etiology of fungi pathogens in animal dermatomycosis in Russia (A Feid study)

Current study is conducted on incidence of significant zoonotic fungal infections in farm and domestic animals, which are scarce in the Russian Federation. Many of isolated fungi were zoonotic agent and can be cases numerous dermal disorders in new host (human). In this study, the incidence of dermatomycosis in animals and its main etiological agents was investigated. During the study, 1190 samples of pathological material were taken from farm and domestic animals with clinical signs of dermatomycosis. The total number of isolated dermatomycete isolates was 648 isolates, which accounted for 54.45% of the total number of isolated fungi. Microscopic fungi belonging to dermatomycetes (genus Microsporum and Trichophyton) accounted for 26.89% of the total number of samples obtained and were identified as Microsporum canis (M.c), Microsporum gypseum (Nannizzia gypsea) (M.g), Microsporum nanum (Nannizzia nana) (M.n ), Trichophyton verrucosum (T.v), Trichophyton mentagrophytes (T.m), Trichophyton equinum (T.eq). Microscopic fungi related to yeasts accounted for 27.56% of the total number of samples obtained and identified. 328 isolates of yeast fungal species isolated from various epitopes, most of which belong to the genus Candida, were isolated and studied. In conclusion, the monitoring of the etiological structure of fungal diseases of animals, carried out over a short period of time 2022-2023 in 27 regions of the Russian Federation, showed the widespread incidence of fungal infections in farm and domestic animals, caused by both true and opportunistic fungi. Yeast species of fungi isolated from animals are not inferior in level of distribution.
